On the flight from Vila to Sydney on Wednesday and I'm getting very cold...shivering and shaking despite pullovers and blankets. I began to feel quite sick...could it be malaria ???
The crew gave me paracetamol and water and by the time we landed I was feeling OK.
Stayed with friends Clif and Angela and during the night had an attack of the chills again !
Thursday trained it to Maitland where Judith picked me up and straight to the Doc....he's thinking it might be malaria or dengue fever.
Off for a barrage of blood tests, back to the doc Friday...tests are negative but now my left leg is swollen and red...ascending lymphadenitis, he says, you're going to hospital...now !
After 3 days in hospital on IV antibiotics, they've let me go home on oral medication. Leg is dramatically improved but will take a while to become 100%...what a carry on!
